By Aaron Humes: A shooting incident unfolded this evening near the old City Hall, leaving a man identified as Akeem Smith, also known as “Baby,” injured. The shooting occurred around 6:15 p.m. while Smith was reportedly in the parking lot of the San Pedro Belize Express water taxi, accompanied by two other men.
Initial reports indicate that Smith may have sustained serious injuries, with conflicting information about whether he was shot in the head or grazed during the attack.
Emergency services quickly responded to the scene, and Smith was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries remains unclear as medical personnel work to assess his condition.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident and have not yet issued an official statement. The motive behind the shooting is also under investigation, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
