By Aaron Humes: After initially withholding his name, police announced that they have formally arrested and charged 26-year-old Donell Eric Arzu, a police officer of Cayo District for the crime of rape.
A 22-year-old Belizean woman from southern Belize reported that on Friday, September 26, about 11:30 p.m., she was socializing with friends and family.
After socializing, she was offered a ride home, but she alleges she was raped during the journey.
Police had indicated earlier that his identity would be withheld to protect the victim, but after being pressed the media on his relation to the victim, later decided to release his identity.
