Adam Wharton seals £18.5m move to Crystal Palace from Blackburn

Adam Wharton has said Crystal Palace’s track record for developing young prospects from the Championship was a big factor in him signing from Blackburn for an initial £18.5m on deadline day. The fee for the 19-year-old could reach £22m with add-ons.

The England Under-20 international, who has a five-and-a-half-year contract, leaves Rovers after making 51 appearances for his boyhood club and will hope to follow in the footsteps of Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze in making the jump up from the second tier.
