By Aaron Humes: A serious road traffic accident occurred yesterday, Saturday, at mile 16 along the Phillip Goldson Highway, resulting in multiple injuries, including those of two young siblings.

At approximately 3:00 PM, police were dispatched to the scene after reports of a collision involving a maroon GMC Terrain and a tree. Upon arrival, officers found the vehicle extensively damaged, having crashed into a tree on the left-hand side of the highway. The driver, 25-year-old Tamron Brooks, was discovered alongside 20-year-old Tamia Brooks, and their relative, 44-year-old Riva Ellis. All three are residents of Belize City.

Tamron, who was wearing a white T-shirt and grey camouflage pants, exhibited significant injuries, including a large cut on his left knee and abrasions on his right knee. Tamia was seen lying on the ground with a severe cut wound on her left cheek and complaints of pain in her right leg. Riva reported pain throughout her body, particularly in her back. Three-year-old minor Keanie Betancourt, who is the granddaughter of Riva Ellis, was also involved in the crash. The young girl suffered a large laceration on her forehead and an apparent broken right arm. She was urgently transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) for treatment.

Initial investigations revealed that Tamron was driving the maroon GMC Terrain, traveling from Sandhill Village toward Ladyville when they approached a sharp curve at mile 16. Tamron reportedly lost control of the vehicle, making impact with the tree.

All injured were promptly transported to KHMH for further treatment. Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
