By Aaron Humes: On Saturday night, a 24-year-old man lost his life in a tragic motorcycle collision. Brian Miguel was just embarking on a quick food run, but never returned home.

The incident occurred around 7:16 PM on the George Price Highway between Mile 40 and 41, when Miguel collided with an oncoming pickup truck. According to police, Miguel was traveling towards Belmopan when he was struck by a pickup driven by 35-year-old William Aleman, a construction worker from Burrell Boom Village.

ASP Stacy Smith, Police Staff Officer, provided details regarding the accident: “The responding officers observed the unresponsive body of Miguel, and some 13 feet away from him was a severely damaged Bashan Brand motorcycle. What the investigation has disclosed is that Miguel was traveling towards Belmopan when he was struck by an F150 pickup truck driven at the time by Aleman that was traveling in the opposite direction.”

Following the incident, Aleman was charged with manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct, and driving without due care and attention; however, he was not charged with drunk driving, as no evidence suggested he was under the influence at the time of the accident.
