“A missing piece of myself”: Woman searches for half-brother born in Belize

By Horace Palacio: Robyn Elisabeth Philip, 39, is on a mission to uncover her family’s past. Her search centers on finding her half-brother, born in Belize in 1975, the result of a secret relationship her late father, Dominic Martin Philip, never revealed.

Mr. Philip, a Grenadian native, served in the Royal Air Force. During his 1975 deployment to Belize, he had a relationship that led to his son’s birth. Robyn’s only clue is a birth window between September and November of that year.

“This isn’t just about finding someone,” Ms. Philip explains, “it’s about finding a missing part of my family, a piece of my own identity.”

Her search faces significant challenges. “It’s a long shot, I know,” she admits. “But I feel compelled to try, for myself and for the brother I may never have known.”
