By Zoila Palma: Today, Leader of the Opposition Tracy Panton said that the next UDP government will have “ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY for abuse of power by ANY public official, particularly those entrusted with enforcing the law and protecting our people.”
Panton calls for accountability in the Belize Police Department following the latest incident involving a police officer in San Pedro.
“This incident demands meaningful accountability through due process. Holding those in authority accountable is essential to restoring confidence and building public trust,” Panton added.
Panton says that citizen security is a shared responsibility.
“There can be no green light for unprofessional behaviour or abuse of power. Law enforcement is not above the law,” she said.
