The Centro Atlántico de Arte Moderno (CAAM) in Las Palmas presents Cuban artist Alejandra Glez in “Entre dos aguas” [Between Two Waters], a performance piece on migration between Cuba and Spain. The event is part of the fifth edition of the ‘Visión y presencia’ series, an initiative promoted by the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza in collaboration with the CAAM and curated by Semiramis González. This performance takes place on Thursday, November 12, at 7:00pm, in the multipurpose room at the CAAM, located at Calle Los Balcones 11, Vegueta, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain.

Description: Cuban artist Alejandra Glez, based in Madrid, presents “Entre dos aguas”— a ritualistic performance that explores transatlantic migration between Cuba and Spain, drawing from her own personal experience of displacement.

The Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean serve as the symbolic axis of the work. Water is presented as a historical, cultural, and spiritual bridge between the two territories, as well as a living archive of the journeys, memories, and identities that accompany those who migrate.

This presentation is part of the fifth edition of ‘Visión y presencia,’ a series dedicated to female creators, promoted by the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza and curated by Semíramis González. The initiative arrives in Gran Canaria through a collaboration with the CAAM, featuring performance works conceived specifically for the museum’s spaces.

Collaborating on the piece are Gustavo García Cruz, who created the ceramic elements, and Kiki Nexxus, who is responsible for the sound production.
