By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City man who admitted giving police a false name walked out of court a free man this week after a magistrate cautioned him and dismissed the charge against him.

Kenyon Kareem Dominguez appeared before the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on a charge of committing a mischievous act after allegedly identifying himself as Kareem Young instead of Kenyon Dominguez when questioned by police on Tuesday, October 27.

Dominguez pleaded guilty but explained that his actions were simply a lapse in judgment.

“It was just wah foolish act. Something I will never try again,” he told the court.

He also claimed that he had been detained by police since Thursday, October 22, spending approximately four to five days in custody.

After considering his explanation, the magistrate cautioned Dominguez and dismissed the charge, allowing him to leave court without further penalty.

Dominguez is no stranger to the court system. In August, Breaking Belize News reported that he was fined $150 after admitting to throwing stones at a neighbour’s house. He claimed he was attempting to alert the occupants to a possible intruder in their yard.
