By Zoila Palma: Today, the Ministry of Constitution and Religious Affairs, Indigenous Affairs and Transportation issued a statement to clarify claims circulating within the public transportation sector suggesting that operators who do not form or join a company will have their road service permits revoked.
The Ministry says that no such directive has been issued.
“The decision not to form or join a company does not, in itself, constitute grounds for the revocation of an existing road service permit.
The Ministry reminds operators that the authority to consider, approve, or revoke a road service permit rests with the Transport Board, in accordance with the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act and its regulations,” the Ministry said.
All permits remain subject to compliance with the applicable legal requirements and conditions under which they were granted.
“The Government remains committed to a fair, transparent, and orderly transportation system that safeguards the interests of operators while prioritizing the needs of the commuting public,” it added.
In addition, the Ministry urged operators to seek clarification through official channels.
