By Breaking Belize News Staff: Chon Saan’s famous fried chicken has made its way to Benque Viejo del Carmen, and customers are already lining up for a taste, even before the official opening!
Businessman and Mesopotamia Area Representative Lee Mark Chang confirmed to Breaking Belize News that Chon Saan’s popular dishes are now available at VIU Restaurant & Lounge in Benque Viejo, where the first batches of fried chicken and sweet-and-sour chicken were prepared on Thursday.
And business got off to an encouraging start. Chang told BBN that approximately 20 customers had already been served within the first hour of sales, despite the restaurant’s official soft opening being scheduled for 5 p.m.
“We no even open yet,” Chang joked as he shared photos of the freshly prepared meals.
VIU Restaurant & Lounge, located at #1 Joyce Blair Street, is now offering Chon Saan favourites, with pickup and delivery services available. The restaurant has advertised that all Chon Saan menu items are available to customers in Benque.
The development comes less than three weeks after Chon Saan expanded into San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, with the opening of a new restaurant on October 10, bringing the popular Belizean Chinese restaurant’s signature dishes to the island.
Founded in 1974 by Chang’s parents, Chon Saan has grown into one of Belize’s most recognizable restaurant brands, with more than 50 years of history.
For residents of Benque Viejo and surrounding communities, the arrival of Chon Saan’s menu at VIU means they can now enjoy the restaurant’s popular dishes without having to travel to Belize City.
