By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 19-year-old Belize City resident is recovering after he was shot by an armed individual near a basketball court on Wagner’s Lane on Thursday morning.
Police identified the victim as Troydon Conorquie, who was reportedly in the vicinity of the basketball court when he was approached by a gunman who opened fire, striking him.
According to Assistant Superintendent of Police Stacy Smith, officers were alerted to the shooting at approximately 11:35 a.m. on October 29.
Conorquie was transported for medical treatment and is listed in stable condition.
Police have not disclosed a motive for the attack or indicated whether any suspects have been identified.
The shooting occurred just hours after 19-year-old Dodrick Madrill was murdered on Freedom Street earlier that morning.
When questioned about whether Thursday’s shootings were connected, Smith said investigators had not established any clear information suggesting a link between the incidents.
Investigations continue.
