Lucelle Lucia Usher officially graduated on October 22, 2026, during a ceremony held at 10 a.m. at the university’s Centro Universitario de Oriente (CUNORI) in Chiquimula, Guatemala.
Usher began her academic journey at Toledo Community College, where she completed high school in 2017. She subsequently attended St. John’s College Junior College, earning an associate degree in 2019 before moving to Guatemala that same year to pursue her medical education.
Her qualification, Médica y Cirujana, is awarded through the university’s medical programme, which prepares graduates for careers as physicians. Her graduation research examined the correlation between neonatal polycythemia, hyperbilirubinemia and hypoglycemia, conditions affecting newborn babies.
According to information shared with Breaking Belize News, Usher plans to remain in Guatemala for some time as she hopes to pursue further specialization in pediatrics, a field dedicated to the medical care of infants, children and adolescents.
Described by those close to her as hardworking, dedicated and determined, Usher’s achievement represents a proud moment for her family and community in southern Belize.
Her graduation also marks the beginning of another chapter in her medical career as she works toward her ambition of specializing in children’s health.
