The annual address was delivered by Prime Minister John Briceño and focused on several national issues, including economic development, affordability, energy security, education and the country’s wider development agenda.

Following the event, Ambassador Chi said she was pleased to attend and expressed confidence that Belize will continue moving toward a brighter future.

The September 15 programme also included a citizenship ceremony marking Belize’s 45th anniversary of Independence.

During the ceremony, 45 new citizens were officially sworn in and presented with nationality certificates, matching the country’s 45 years of Independence.

The symbolic ceremony formed part of the wider national activities leading up to Independence Day on September 21.

The event brought together senior government officials, diplomats and newly naturalized Belizeans as the country reflected on its progress and future priorities.
