By Zoila Palma: Six young participants from Taiwan’s “Global Pathfinders Initiative” arrived in Belize on September 1 to embark on several weeks of learning, cultural exchange and community engagement.
During their stay, the participants will work with local organizations and institutions, including the Turneffe Atoll Sustainability Association (TASA), Belize Audubon Society, Protected Areas Conservation Trust (PACT), and the Belmopan, Belize City and Orange Walk town councils.
Their placements will expose them to environmental conservation, sustainable development, local governance and community life, providing opportunities to learn directly from Belizean communities.
Taiwan’s Ambassador to Belize, Amino Chi, welcomed the group at a dinner and encouraged them to step outside their comfort zones, embrace new experiences and build meaningful connections during their time in Belize.
The Taiwan Embassy in Belize noted that this exchange brings Taiwan and Belize closer culturally.
