The Ministry noted that multisectoral partners, including the Department of Environment, Immigration, Civil Aviation, the Forestry Department, and the Belize Agricultural Health Authority, joined the Ministry of Health & Wellness to review national capacities, identify gaps, and prioritize actions for a National Epidemic Intelligence Plan.
“Strengthening Belize’s epidemic intelligence capacity helps detect threats to human health early, including infectious diseases, chemical hazards, and environmental hazards. Early detection enables timely prevention and response, helping to reduce the impact of these threats on Belize’s population,” the Ministry explained.
The Ministry says that together, they are strengthening coordination, information sharing, and timely action to protect the health of all Belizeans.
