King Felipe VI hosted the squad at Madrid’s Royal Palace, praising the players for what he described as an “epic” victory and calling them a “legendary and historic team.”
The king congratulated the players and urged them to enjoy the celebrations following their demanding tournament.
King Felipe described Spain’s World Cup campaign as a true “odyssey” and thanked the team on behalf of the nation, highlighting the country’s achievement of holding both the men’s and women’s World Cup titles.
Following the palace reception, captain Rodri and his teammates were scheduled to meet Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez before taking part in an open-top bus parade through central Madrid.
