By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP):  A late-night stop for ceviche at a Guinea Grass Village restaurant descended into a violent melee that left one man slashed across the face and chest, another stabbed, and a woman beaten, and police are now seeking four people in connection with the attack.

According to the Belize Police Department, three persons reported that on Friday, July 10, 2026, at about 11:00 p.m., they sat down to eat at a restaurant in Guinea Grass Village.

While they waited for their order, one of the complainants reported, a group of four people, two brothers and two sisters, all known to him since childhood, entered the restaurant and sat opposite them. According to his account, one of the women soon began hurling insults across the room, prompting the owner to intervene and warn that he wanted no trouble at his establishment.

The warning did not hold. The complainant told police the second woman came over to their table demanding to know what his problem was, while shouting continued from the other table. The first woman then approached, spilled beer on the group, and pushed one of the female complainants. When the male complainant stood up, he reported that the two brothers attacked him and his brother-in-law, punching them from the front and behind. In the chaos, he realised he had been cut on the right side of his face, across his chest, and on his back and shoulder. Bleeding heavily, he told police he feared he was going to die. He said the attack happened so quickly that he never saw the weapon.

The second male complainant was also attacked, suffering a stab wound to the head, a cut to his knee, and a slash across his stomach. The female complainant was punched about the eye and head, had her hair pulled, and was bitten on her upper back by the two women.

According to the primary complainant, the dispute stemmed from a past relationship. He alleged that one of the women is his former partner and was upset that he is now in a relationship with the female complainant. He added that he had never had any dispute with the two brothers.

A doctor certified the primary complainant’s injuries as grievous harm, the second male complainant’s injuries as wounding, and the female complainant’s injuries as harm. The scene was processed and photographed, witness statements were recorded, and all three complainants requested court action.

Police have named four persons as wanted in connection with the attack. As none has been detained or charged, their identities are being withheld pending charges. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Orange Walk Police or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 922.
