By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Relief is here at last. After a week of tropical waves, flooding, and rainfall watches, weather conditions are expected to improve today, with mainly fair weather forecast over the next couple of days.
According to the National Meteorological Service, skies will be cloudy at times today and partly cloudy tonight. A few showers, periods of rain, and isolated thunderstorms are likely to continue over central and southern areas this morning, gradually decreasing by this afternoon. Tonight, isolated showers or thunderstorms remain possible, mainly over the south.
Temperatures along the coast will reach a high of 88 degrees Fahrenheit (31 Celsius) and a low of 82 (28 Celsius). Inland areas will climb to 90 degrees Fahrenheit (32 Celsius) and drop to 74 (23 Celsius). In the hills, expect a high of 78 degrees Fahrenheit (26 Celsius) and a cooler low of 68 (20 Celsius).
At sea, winds will blow from the east at 10 to 20 knots and gusty at times, with moderate seas and waves of 4 to 6 feet, so small craft operators should still keep some caution near any lingering showers.
On the tropical front, the calm continues. No tropical cyclone formation is expected over the region during the next 48 hours.
Looking ahead to Friday and Friday night, shower activity decreases further, with only isolated showers expected, setting up a promising start to the weekend.
Today’s high tides are at 11:06 AM and 12:15 AM tomorrow, with a low tide at 6:17 PM and another low at 5:45 AM tomorrow. The sun rose at 5:26 AM and will set at 6:30 PM. The forecast was issued by forecaster Michelle Augustine.
