By Zoila Palma: On July 11, 2026, Councillor Kaya Cattouse represented Belize City Mayor Bernard Wagner and the Belize City Council at the annual Belize Day celebration in Miramar, Florida, where she delivered official greetings during the ceremony and accepted the Official Belize Day Proclamation from Miramar Mayor Wayne M. Messam.
The proclamation, presented on behalf of the City of Miramar, officially recognized Belize Day while celebrating the longstanding Sister City relationship and friendship between Belize City and Miramar.
The event highlighted the enduring ties between the two municipalities and their shared commitment to fostering cultural and community connections.
The celebration brought together Belizeans from across the diaspora for a vibrant showcase of Belizean culture, featuring traditional cuisine, music, and national pride.
A major highlight of the festivities was a lively performance by renowned Belizean entertainer Chico Ramos, who entertained the crowd while celebrating Belize’s rich musical heritage.
The Belize City Council expressed its appreciation to the National Institute of Culture and History (NICH) for partnering to showcase Belizean talent on the international stage.
The Council also thanked the City of Miramar and Mayor Messam for their warm hospitality and continued commitment to strengthening the bond between the two Sister Cities.
