By Breaking Belize News Staff: Prime Minister John Briceño has flatly denied any family or business connection to Meat Masters, one of the companies now under public scrutiny in the ongoing Ministry of Defence procurement controversy.
Briceño was questioned after the Guardian newspaper reportedly linked him to the company by alleging that a Briceño connected to Meat Masters was his brother. The Prime Minister rejected that claim, saying the individual is not his brother and is not related to him in any way.
Briceño said he has no interest in Meat Masters and did not know the company was selling meat or bidding to supply meat to the Belize Defence Force. He said the matter is being turned over to his attorneys, and that the Guardian may be asked to apologize or face possible legal action.
Public reporting on Meat Masters has focused on payments processed through the Ministry of Defence. 7News Belize reported that leaked records showed 54 transactions totaling $435,455.73 between April 13 and May 11, 2026, all below the $10,000 threshold, including $304,000 processed in one day.
