By Zoila Palma: Today, the United States launched another round of military strikes against Iran with Iranian state media reporting explosions along the country’s southern coast.
The strikes came just hours after U.S. President Donald Trump warned that the U.S. would “hit them hard” again following what he described as Iranian attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, BBC reports.
According to U.S. Central Command, the latest operation was carried out in response to “recent unjustified aggression against commercial shipping and civilian crews” in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian state media reported multiple explosions near the southern port city of Bandar Abbas and said projectiles struck Abu Musa Island and Sirik Island in the Persian Gulf.
President Trump said the strikes were retaliation for attacks on commercial vessels and warned that any further incidents would prompt an even stronger U.S. response.
