By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A man has been arrested and charged with burglary after he allegedly forced his way into a family home in Orange Walk Town, ransacking the house while several children were inside.
According to the Belize Police Department, the complainant, a 50-year-old woman of Orange Walk Town, reported that on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, she received a call from her teenage granddaughter, who was at the home at the time. The girl reportedly said that a man had entered the house.
The woman said she hurried home and, upon arriving, found she could not get inside. After she banged on the door, her granddaughter managed to open it and ran out along with several other children who had been in the house. The complainant told police she then entered and confronted the man, telling him to leave as he had no permission to be there and had been frightening the children. She reported that the house had been ransacked, with clothes and other items strewn about, before the man eventually left.
Police said the complainant was able to clearly recognise the man, as the area was well lit and she was standing close to him. She stated she had not given him permission to enter her home, and requested court action.
Police later located and detained 31-year-old Timothy Morey, a labourer of Orange Walk Town, informed him of the reason for his detention, and cautioned him. He chose to remain silent. He was subsequently arrested and formally charged with the crime of burglary.
