By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A police operation in the Toledo District has turned up a hidden stash of suspected drugs, buried in the ground and concealed inside glue containers.

According to the Belize Police Department, on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, between 4:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., police units conducted operations in their area of responsibility, targeting firearms, ammunition, and drugs. During the exercise, officers searched a residence in Santa Cruz Village.

While nothing illegal was found inside, police reported that a further search outside the fence led to a discovery. Under a coconut stalk, officers said they unearthed three red and white containers of glue that had been buried in the dirt. When opened, two of the containers were found to hold suspected crack, while the third contained a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine.

All three containers were taken to the Independence Police Station, where the suspected crack cocaine was weighed at 5.77 grams and the suspected cocaine at 3.0 grams. Both were sealed and labelled as evidence.

No arrests were reported in connection with the find. The suspected drugs were retrieved and the matter remains under police attention.
