By Breaking Belize News Staff: Prime Minister John Briceno said that he was “floored” following the allegations made by businessman Cesar Godinez about Deputy Chief forestry officer John Pinelo.

Godinez claimed that payments were made to Pinelo to facilitate licenses and provided 7News Belize with screenshots of payments.

Allegations, that Pinelo refute and has said that he will consult with his attorneys.

Prime Minister Briceno said that he was made aware of this through the 7news story and was shocked.

“I just saw somebody sent me your interview that you did. I was, like, floored. What again, what I’ve done is I’ve asked the Cabinet Secretary to speak with the CEO of Sustainable development. I am told that she has spoken to the acting Chief Forest Officer, he has gone on holiday and the investigation will be done. Obviously, at the end of the day, the Public Service Commission will have to deal with that matter,” the Prime Minister said.

PM Briceno says that Pinelo would then have to answer to the Public Service Commission.
