By Zoila Palma:  On June 16, 2026, the Ministry of Education broke ground for the Trio Government School Classroom Construction Project.

This project ensures that rural communities in southern Belize receive the inclusive, resilient, and high-quality educational spaces they deserve.

The Ministry says that considering the future and safety of the community in mind, this multi-functional building will be engineered to double as a secure community hurricane shelter during emergencies.

Additionally, it will feature full ramp infrastructure to ensure it is completely accessible for all students.

This initiative represents a dynamic partnership co-funded by the Caribbean Development Bank and the Government of Belize and implemented via the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science, and Technology (MoECST).
