By Breaking Belize News Staff: Two Ladyville men charged in connection with the attempted murder of Lionel Nigel Logan were further remanded to the Belize Central Prison after appearing together in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Brandon Christian Villamil, 21, and Ackeem Fernando Ferguson, 30, appeared unrepresented before a Senior Magistrate in Court #3. The men were hoping to be considered for bail at the lower court level, but were informed that they have not yet been on remand for 90 days.

The Senior Magistrate told them that they may make an application for bail consideration at their next court appearance, which is set for August 24, 2026. Both men were further remanded until that date.

Ferguson, of Yellow Tail Street, Ladyville, was the first to be arraigned in connection with the case. Villamil was later arraigned on May 6, 2026. The men have been charged with attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm, and dangerous harm.

The charges stem from a shooting and stabbing incident that occurred on April 11, 2026, on Henry Street, a dirt road behind Delmart Hardware Store off Perez Road in Ladyville.

Police say officers responded to the area around 9:05 p.m. and found Logan, 30, lying on a cement verandah with an apparent gunshot wound and an apparent stab wound to his lower back. He was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

According to police, Logan was walking on Henry Street when he was approached by two men. An altercation reportedly followed, during which one of the men allegedly stabbed him and then fired a single shot at him before both men fled.

Police say Logan identified Ferguson as the person who shot him. Ferguson was later detained, and police say Logan subsequently gave a statement positively identifying him.
