By Zoila Palma: The Institute of Archaeology, under the National Institute of Culture and History (NICH), is preparing to host the 20th Belize Archaeology Symposium, celebrating two decades of archaeological research, discoveries and the sharing of knowledge about Belize’s rich cultural heritage.
The milestone event is scheduled for July 1-3, 2026, at the San Ignacio Resort Hotel and will bring together researchers, scholars, students and members of the public interested in archaeology and history.
IA says that the symposium is more than an academic gathering, serving as a space where ideas are exchanged, knowledge is built and history is brought to life.
The event will highlight the contributions of archaeologists and researchers who have helped expand understanding of Belize’s ancient civilizations over the past 20 years.
The Institute of Archaeology is encouraging interested participants to register and take part in the landmark event.
