By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): The Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing has announced the start of a new phase of the George Price Highway Upgrading Project near the Western Paradise community.
According to a public notice issued on June 6, the project forms part of the Government of Belize’s ongoing efforts to modernize the country’s road network, improve flood resilience and increase safety for motorists.
The works will include widening sections of the roadway through scarification and pavement improvements, installation of culverts, construction of new asphalt surfaces, upgrades to intersections and the installation of additional traffic safety infrastructure.
Officials say these improvements are designed to create a safer and more efficient highway while helping reduce flooding risks in the area.
Residents and motorists traveling through the construction zone should expect heavy equipment, increased movement of construction vehicles, temporary traffic management measures and occasional lane restrictions.
The ministry is warning that travel delays are likely as work progresses and is encouraging motorists to slow down, follow traffic signs and obey directions from traffic personnel.
Officials say every effort will be made to minimize disruption to residents, businesses and road users while construction is underway.
Anyone with questions or concerns regarding the project can contact the project’s grievance mechanism at 614-3195.
