The initiative has one clear and ambitious goal. Plant and nurture one million trees across Belize by 2035.

Minister of Sustainable Development Orland Habet outlined the vision behind the project which focuses on restoring degraded lands, protecting vital watersheds and building climate resilience across the country. The initiative places particular emphasis on restoring areas affected by wildfires and revitalizing agro-productive zones that have been damaged or depleted over time.

The partnership agreements signed last week bring together conservation organizations committed to working alongside government to make the one million tree target a reality within the decade.
