By Breaking Belize News Staff: A San Pedro resident accused of using a computer system to transmit nude data has been assigned an attorney after initially telling the High Court that he could represent himself.
Jairo Alcoser, 32, appeared before Justice Derick Sylvester in the High Court, where he indicated that he believed he had the ability and capacity to handle his own matter.
Alcoser told the court that the allegation made against him was not true, stating, “What the woman is accusing me of is lies.”
Justice Sylvester, however, advised Alcoser that the offense before the court is a serious one and that he should have legal representation. Alcoser then informed the court that he could not afford an attorney.
In the interest of justice, Justice Sylvester appointed an attorney to represent him.
Alcoser was provided with his Case Management Conference form and instructed to hand it over to his attorney. The court ordered that the CMC form be filed by June 15, 2026.
He is scheduled to return to the High Court on June 30, 2026.
