By Zoila Palma: Recently, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO Belize) in partnership with the Ministry of Health & Wellness and the University of Colorado, successfully trained 60 community health workers and 7 health educators across Belize through the Community First Aid Response (CFAR) Learning Programme.
Over two intensive workshops, participants gained hands-on skills to recognize emergencies, provide life-saving first aid, ensure patient safety, and support safe transport to health facilities, especially in rural and underserved communities.
“Together, we are empowering community health workers with these critical skills and taking a step toward improving timely emergency care and reducing preventable deaths countrywide,” PAHO noted.
