By Zoila Palma: The Ministry of Transport has launched a new public awareness campaign aimed at ensuring commuters across Belize are charged approved bus fares and protected from overcharging.
The campaign, titled “Fair Fares. Fair for All,” encourages passengers to report incidents where bus operators charge more than the officially approved rates through a dedicated WhatsApp hotline at 613-3104.
According to the Ministry, the initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to keep Belize’s public transportation system fair, safe, and accountable as new fare structures and transportation reforms continue to be introduced nationwide.
Commuters making complaints are being asked to provide detailed information, including the bus route, license plate number, time of travel, and any additional details that may help authorities identify the operator involved.
