By Zoila Palma:  Today, the Office of the Special Envoy for the Development of Families and Children issued a statement saying that it continues to support the health, and well-being of Belizean children and families through awareness, and prevention.

“The Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine is a safe and effective way to protect children from HPV-related diseases, including cervical cancer. By vaccinating children early, we are helping to protect future generations from a disease that has caused immeasurable pain to families across Belize,” the Special Envoy said.

“While some individuals and religious institutions may have concerns about the HPV vaccine, protecting children from a preventable disease must remain a national priority,” the statement added.

The Special Envoy further called on communities, families, parents, educational institutions, faith-based organizations, and leaders across Belize to stand united in safeguarding women and girls from this preventable disease and to support efforts that advance a healthier and more protected future for all.
