By Aaron Humes: A 29-year-old construction worker was killed in a drive-by shooting in the Barbara Harris Street area of Belize City tonight, Thursday.
Police responded to reports of gunfire around 8:20 p.m. Officers learned that a man had been transported to Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim was identified as Jamal Samuels, 29, a construction worker of Cet Site. He was pronounced dead at 8:30 p.m.
Initial investigation revealed that Samuels was sitting outside a residence with a group of men when a dark-colored vehicle stopped in front of the yard. Three individuals dressed in dark clothing exited the vehicle and opened fire in their direction, hitting Samuels several times.
Samuels’ body is at the KHMH Morgue awaiting a post mortem examination.
No arrests have been reported, and the suspects remain at large. Police say the motive for the shooting is unknown at this time.
The matter remains under investigation.
