By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A late-night traffic accident in Orange Walk took a dramatic turn when one of the vehicles involved burst into flames after the driver fled the scene.

Police say the incident occurred around 11:00 p.m. on May 4 at the intersection of Progress and San Francisco Streets. A Ford F-150 pickup, driven by 25-year-old Clinton Shaw, was reportedly parked when it was struck by a red Toyota Tacoma.

Officials say the driver of the Tacoma fled the scene immediately after the collision. Officers later followed an oil trail that led them to the bypass road, where the vehicle was found engulfed in flames.

Initial investigations suggest the vehicle may have caught fire after sustaining damage that caused sparks while being driven.

The driver remains at large as investigations continue.
