By Zoila Palma: On April 22, 2026, the Taiwan Navy 2026 Midshipmen Cruising and Training Squadron, led by Rear Admiral Commander Chen Ming-Feng, concluded its visit to Belize.
The Taiwan Navy engaged in maritime skills exchanges with the Belize Coast Guard, hosted a shipboard goodwill reception, and provided spectacular performances by the drum and bugle corps, the military band & honor guards, and the Chikwondo (martial arts) team. The Panshih-class Combat Support Ship was also open for tours to the public.
The squadron received a warm welcome from Governor-General Dame Froyla Tzalam, Prime Minister John Briceño, all walks of Belizean society, and the Taiwanese community.
The Taiwan Embassy in Belize extended gratitude to the Ministry of National Defense & Border Security of Belize and Belize City Council for their assistance in ensuring the Goodwill Fleet’s successful visit, further deepening the traditional friendship between Taiwan and Belize.
