By Aaron Humes: Police say they have formally arrested and charged a 33-year old traffic officer for the crime of aggravated assault.
The ongoing investigation commenced on Saturday, April 11, about 9:21 a.m., when 30-year-old Rodney Card, a Belizean businessman of Belize City, visited the police station and reported that about 3:30 a.m., he left a nightclub on New Town Barracks. Whilst walking towards his vehicle, which was parked in a nearby parking lot, he observed two females fighting.
Upon trying to de-escalate the fight, a male person approached him and told him to leave the girls alone. The said male person pulled out a pistol from his waist area and cocked it.
Police officers intervened and detained 33-year-old Ignatius Peyrefitte, a Belizean transport officer, pending investigation. On Sunday, April 12, police formally arrested and charged Peyrefitte, a Belizean transport officer, for the crime of “Aggravated Assault.”
