By Zoila Palma: Residents of Caye Caulker are being invited to attend a community meeting aimed at discussing important local concerns and strengthening public engagement.
The meeting organized by the Caye Caulker Village Council, is scheduled for today and will take place at the island’s Community Centre.
The meeting is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. and is open to all members of the public.
The Caye Caulker Village Council recently issued a statement expressing that it rejects any proposal to sell or transfer the police property parcel 815.
“The Caye Caulker Village Council has taken note of the sudden halt in construction at the police station. With growing concerns coming from multiple sources, councillors made direct efforts to verify the situation with higher authorities,” the council indicated.
“This lack of transparency is unacceptable. Whether this pause is due to internal deliberations or the quiet acceptance of a proposal, the people of Caye Caulker deserve clear and immediate answers,” the council added.
Organizers are encouraging residents to participate in what is expected to be an interactive discussion focused on recent community matters.
