By Zoila Palma: Today, Minister of State for Foreign Trade Marconi Leal, visited Silk Grass Farms Limited alongside a delegation from the Directorate General for Foreign Trade (DGFT) as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Belize’s agricultural exports and value-added production.
The visit highlighted Silk Grass Farms’ integrated approach to citrus cultivation, processing, and product diversification, including juices, coconut water, coconut oil, essential oils, cacao and other by-products.
“Conservation is at the center of the company’s operation. Discussion focused on enhancing export competitiveness, expanding market access, and addressing sector challenges such as crop disease management and climate resilience,” the Ministry said.
Minister Leal commended the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability, noting its role as a key contributor to Belize’s agro-industrial development.
The Minister said that companies like Silk Grass Farms demonstrate the potential of Belize’s agricultural sector to move up the value chain and compete in international markets.
