By Breaking Belize News Staff: MaryJane Humes is offering a $500 reward for anyone that helps her locate her stolen motorcycle.

Humes says that she and her sister went to the Easter Fair in San Ignacio on Saturday night and parked and locked their motorcycle at the parking.

However, upon exiting the fair, they noticed that the cycle had been stolen.

Humes says that several other people who had parked their motorcycles in the same area were also victims.

She is now calling on the San Ignacio and Santa Elena Town Council questioning security for parking.

“To the San Ignacio Town Council and the authorities: how is it that during a major public event, where families gather, basic security is not properly enforced? How are criminals able to operate so easily, in such a short time, without consequence?

This is not just about one motorcycle. This is about public safety. It’s about families no longer feeling secure attending community events. It’s about a pattern that is clearly getting worse and if nothing is done, it WILL get out of control.

We, the public, are demanding stronger police presence, better surveillance, and real action. Because right now, it feels like the system meant to protect us is failing,” Humes said.

Humes says that motorcycles are the way of transportation to and from work for many Belizeans.
