By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A well-known local shop owner in Trial Farm Village has passed away following a brave battle with Stage 3 cancer. On Tuesday morning, March 31, police on mobile patrol were flagged down by Anita Velasquez, who informed officers that her sister, Dora Maria Munoz, had died at her place of business.

Officers were led to “Dora’s Shop,” a cement structure on Mahogany Street, where they found the 75-year-old woman unresponsive. Family members noted that Munoz had been seen alive and responsive just 45 minutes prior to the discovery. She had been undergoing treatment for the past eight months for an advanced stage of cancer.

Police confirmed there were no signs of foul play. Munoz was transported to the Northern Regional Hospital, where she was officially pronounced dead at 12:30 p.m. A medical certificate has since been issued, attributing her passing to complications from mesothelioma.
