By Aaron Humes: 51-year-old Rolando Vindas Cespedes, a Costa Rican national and general manager of the Fyffes Banana Farm, was found apparently stabbed to death this morning at his residence along Caribbean Way on the Placencia Peninsula.
Around 8:35 a.m., Seine Bight police received reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers spoke to a witness who lives on the ground floor of a two-story house. The witness reported that the victim had been attacked by a dark-skinned male from the neighborhood.
Police found Vindas Cespedes with multiple stab wounds and significant blood loss. He was immediately transported to the Placencia Polyclinic for urgent medical care but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at 9:43 a.m.
A 47-year-old male neighbor from Maya Beach was taken into custody by police at the scene and is currently held at the Seine Bight Police Station as investigations continue. The motive behind the stabbing remains unclear.
