By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police in southern Belize are investigating an early morning robbery that left a waitress stripped of nearly $5,000 worth of jewelry.
The incident occurred in the Savannah area of Hopkins Village on Monday, March 23, 2026. According to official reports, a 24-year-old waitress was socializing with a friend near the roadside at approximately 12:50 a.m. when the pair was approached by two unidentified men.
The encounter quickly turned violent when one of the suspects produced a firearm, pointing it at the victim and demanding her valuables. While the gunman held the victims at bay, the second suspect reportedly snatched a gold chain and medal from the woman. Following a brief struggle, the victim was forced to hand over a second gold chain to the assailants.
Police have valued the stolen items at a total of $4,975.00. No injuries were reported during the confrontation, though the suspects fled the scene immediately after the theft. Investigations are currently active as Stann Creek police work to identify the men involved.
