By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 45-year-old Flamboyant Street resident has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison after being arraigned on a charge of burglary, though he insists the allegation makes no sense because he lives at the same house he is accused of breaking into.

Earl Raymond Sanchez, of Flamboyant Street, appeared before a magistrate where he was accused of entering the home of a security guard and stealing several items.

Police allege that Sanchez stole a $350 mountain bicycle, an orange pump valued at $35, and a Bluetooth speaker valued at $50, for a total value of $435.

When the charge was read to him, Sanchez initially entered a guilty plea with an explanation, telling the court that the pump and bicycle were actually his. He further claimed that he took the bicycle because the virtual complainant owed him money.

Sanchez told the court that he still has the bicycle and planned to return it only after the complainant pays him the money he claims is owed.

However, after hearing his explanation, the magistrate informed Sanchez that his statement amounted to a defense, and therefore the court could not accept the guilty plea.

The prosecutor raised no objection to bail, and Sanchez was offered bail in the sum of $3,000 plus two sureties of $1,500 each.

As part of the bail conditions, Sanchez was ordered not to interfere with the virtual complainant or any prosecution witnesses, and he must stay at least 100 yards away from the complainant.

Despite being granted bail, Sanchez was unable to meet the bail conditions and was remanded to the Belize Central Prison.

He is scheduled to return to court on May 7, 2026.
