By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Belize City police are currently on the scene of a double fatality following a daylight shooting on East Collet Canal.
Reports indicate that a gunman opened fire on a group of people at a food stand. The primary target, identified as Clinton Pow, was fatally wounded in the attack and died on the spot. His sister, who was with him at the time, was also shot and rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) for emergency surgery. She is reportedly in stable condition.
The suspected shooter, identified as Ryan Barnett, was intercepted by a police officer while attempting to flee the scene. A pursuit ensued, during which the officer opened fire. Barnett was hit and later succumbed to his injuries.
Police recovered over two dozen expended shells from an automatic rifle at the scene. Investigations are ongoing.
