By Zoila Palma: Free education has been a pillar of Prime Minister John Briceno and his administration’s Plan Belize agenda.
During Tuesday’s Budget presentation, the Prime Minister said that now more than 60% of all secondary school students in Belize will benefit from free education providing relief for more than 8500 families.
In addition, a substantial number of students attending non-EUp secondary schools also receive financial assistance from the Government of Belize in the form of subsidies, grants, or scholarships; traditionally, over 5,000 students outside of EUp schools benefit from such support.
