By Rubén Morales Iglesias: PACT on Trak — Amado Cruz, Enrique Cruz and Cristian Lopez — sealed their dominance of the 2026 Belikin La Ruta Maya Belize River Challenge on Monday, powering through the final 25‑mile leg from Burrell Boom to Belize City in 1:57:29 to complete a clean sweep of all four stages.
The last stretch of the 170‑mile race produced a tight battle among the lead pack. Riverside Boyz (Toucan Solutions) — Henner Cruz, Efrain Cruz and Brian Cruz — and Ranza River Cruisers — Daniel Cruz Sr., Francisca Cruz Pfaender and Daniel Cruz Jr. — stayed close throughout the run down Haulover Creek, finishing in 1:59:37 and 1:59:41 respectively.
Koop Sheet Metal — Alfred Lopez, Allen Lopez and Byron Cruz — followed in 1:59:54, while Black Orchid Resort — Carlos Linares, Brandon Lind and Jesus Linares — and River Blazer Bros (C2) — Javier Guardado and Andres Cabb Jr. — crossed together in 2:02:43, maintaining the intensity of the front group.
A spirited finish to the 2026 race
The final 25 miles into Belize City delivered a fast, competitive end to the four‑day challenge. The lead teams pushed a strong pace from Burrell Boom, maintaining tight formation through the river bends and into Haulover Creek before the final sprint to the finish.
The final push into Belize City capped four days of racing that began with:
- Leg 1 — San Ignacio to Banana Bank: 49 miles
- Leg 2 — Banana Bank to Double Head Cabbage: 60 miles
- Leg 3 — Double Head Cabbage to Burrell Boom: 36 miles
- Leg 4 — Burrell Boom to Belize City: 25 miles
Together they form the full 170‑mile challenge that defines La Ruta Maya.
