STEM U Foundation is pleased to announce that seven students from St. Ignatius High School, Santa Elena Town, Cayo District, have been selected to participate in an international STEM training exchange in Charlotte, North Carolina, from March 9-19, 2026.
The immersive experience will expose students to welding, nondestructive testing, engineering, and related STEM careers through hands-on learning, university engagement, and real-world industry observation. The delegation will also strengthen career awareness and workforce readiness by learning directly from professionals and training institutions in the United States.
This educational experience in Charlotte, North Carolina, is made possible through the support of the following international partners and industry collaborators:
Liburdi Dimetrics; PSA Airlines (American Airlines Group); Fluor Enterprises; Applied Inspection Systems; Sonaspection; CT Raceworx; Capstone Engineering; Siemens Energy; Pit Weld U; AWS Charlotte Section 140; South Piedmont Community College; Central Piedmont Community College; Deep Blue Avionics; Holemaker Technology; Modern Racing; Upstate General Welding Services; Metal Artists Codie Aljet and Staci Martinez; and special guests from other industries and the American Welding Society. During the U.S. visit, the student delegation will also travel to Washington, DC, from March 14-17, 2026, including a visit to the Belize Embassy, a session with the Organization of American States (OAS) to learn about education and training opportunities through the Department of Human Development, Education and Employment (DHDEE), and a campus tour of Howard University.
The students’ travel is supported through the combined efforts of STEM U Foundation, parents, and St. Ignatius High School. STEM U Foundation’s contribution is supported by business and industry donors, including: Public Utilities Commission; Belize Electricity Limited; Blancaneaux Lodge; San Ignacio Resort Hotel; The Ellysian Boutique Hotel; and BBN (Breaking Belize News).
STEM U Foundation congratulates Bettina Myers, Mirianie Canto, Rosella Vega, Zairi Eck, Jacey Moro, Shalliney Oliva, and Xavi Tzib on this achievement. As delegates of St. Ignatius High School, they will represent their school and Belize while building technical skills, confidence, and a clearer pathway into future study and employment in STEM fields.
