By Aaron Humes: A 58-year-old laborer from Stann Creek District has been charged with multiple counts of unlawful sexual intercourse and child prostitution. The man was apprehended after a 15-year-old girl reported that he had engaged in sexual relations with her on two separate occasions in June 2025, leaving her pregnant. The identity of the victim is being withheld to protect her privacy and safety.
The investigation began when the minor’s mother, a 33-year-old Belizean woman, accompanied her daughter to the Independence Police Station on October 15, 2025. During their visit, the girl disclosed that she had been approached by the suspect at a local store, where he promised to pay for her items. It was during subsequent visits to his home that the suspect allegedly coerced her into sexual activities in exchange for money.
According to reports, the minor visited the man’s home twice, where she was allegedly told that she must have sexual intercourse with him in order to receive $100 each time. Following these encounters, she has now been confirmed to be 24 weeks pregnant by a medical examination conducted on November 17, 2025.
The accused appeared in the Independence Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, February 25, facing four indictable charges: two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse and two counts of child prostitution. Senior Magistrate Mannan Dennison denied him bail, remanding him to the Belize Central Prison until the next court date scheduled for June 15.
